Piazza Campo de’ Fiori is one of the most famous squares in Rome, between Via dei Giubbonari and Piazza della Cancelleria, on the borders of the Parione and Regola districts. Its name derives from the presence of a vast meadow, as well as vegetable gardens, which in 1400 adorned the square. The first urbanization works occurred in 1456. Many palaces were built and the square became a place of passage for prominent personalities such as ambassadors and cardinals who went from Trastevere, passing through Ponte Sisto to San Pietro.
