Prati Fiscali is not a district of Rome, but it was an estate that extended north of the Aniene, the tributary of the Tiber: this singular name is attested already in documents prior to the year Thousand, with the name “Filiscari” or “Flescari”, but its meaning is difficult to reconstruct. In any case, the name of the estate has then remained in a street that is now part of the district of Valli, built in the post-war period (which is also referred to as the Conca d’Oro).
Administratively, these areas are part of a larger area, the XVI Quartiere Monte Sacro, in the northeastern suburbs of Rome. The name of this district comes from a hill called sacer mons already in ancient Rome: it seems that the adjective sacred is due to the fact that on the mountain was consecrated to Jupiter a monument, to celebrate the agreements made between patricians and plebeians after the secession of the latter on Monte Sacro, in 493 B.C.
